'H' as he is affectionately known, is a superb example of an Irish cob.  He has quality, movement and style, plenty of good clean bone free of bumps, lumps and blemishes,  is very handsome, easy to do, (very laid back about everything) and true to type.

'H' was a beautiful foal, and one of the last of the renown sire 'Blue Henry' also the sire of our very successful show cob 'Kelston Madam butterfly'.  'H' was shown lightly as a 2 year old in purebred Irish Draught Classes but was always dwarfed by the bigger two year olds, so he was earmarked to be a cob.   Clannad Bess was also the dam of 'Polaris' (although he was then called Blue Gray Amazement) and he was only about 14.2hh when he was sold as a 2yr old, but matured a little over 15hh which didn't stop him becoming one of the most successful cobs ever.

'H' got into showing late due to one thing and another.  When he was backed at 5 it was thought then that he wasn't up to height to compete as a show cob. His first measurement at 6 was 153 cm, though he had time to grow a bit, Irish Draughts are renown for maturing around 7yrs. So he has led a very quiet life hacking out round the lanes and taking part in local shows where he did very well.   He looked amazing but sadly it seems he is too small to compete with all the other cobs that tower above him,.    He now has a life height certificate at 153.5 cms!

Although he may be a little smaller than most in the class, like his half brother his conformation and movement make up for it and he is a joy to watch.  He is a lovely pattern under saddle and stripped.

He likes to pop a jump too.

Here is some film of 'H' working in the school last year.  Clips in all three paces and a little jump!
